Heffingen

During the 1930s, Nicolas Thill (1885-1967), a native of Heffingen, in cooperation with the museum of natural history, undertook several archaeological excavations.

To Nicolas Thill and his unresting eagerness and interest we owe till this day numerous prehistorical and early discoveries, which originate generally of the Mesolithic and the Neolithic Age. Amongst others, he discovered a big number of human bones, as the skeletons from Loeschbour, dating from the end of the Mesolithic Age. The bones illustrate up till today the eldest Luxembourger.
